SMARTdiagnostics called out dangerously high peak accelerations levels on this Feed Compressor motor, just three days after install at this RNG facility. A SENTRYsolutions analyst dug into the data and noted that the mid and high frequency noise pointed to a bearing fault, with the bearings experiencing more than 28gs on a regular basis, almost maxing out the sensor. The analyst recommended greasing the inboard bearings as soon as possible.
Thanks to SMARTdiagnostics’ real-time insights and immediate visibility, the customer quickly identified the issue without needing to search, the data pointed them directly to what needed inspection. Upon inspecting the asset, the customer uncovered a seized bearing, leading to replacement of the motor. Early detection enabled the site team to replace the motor before failure occurred, avoiding downtime and potential damage to surrounding systems.
