A SENTRYsolutions analyst detected an increase in velocity readings in late August. A new issue in Desk was opened, and it was recommended the plant’s maintenance team inspect bearings.
Upon next chance for inspection, the plant’s maintenance team found loose bolts. Without advance notice, this would have led to a catastrophic bearing failure and downtime for the hot mill.
