The Problem

A severe issue of elevated running speed vibration associated with structural and or rotating looseness in a compressor was reported on August 16, 2023, with nearly doubled vibration levels.

How we solved it

The initial recommendation was to check the sensors’ placement and the asset’s structural integrity. Motor was replaced November 22, 2023, resulting in significant reduction in levels indicated. Unplanned downtime was avoided.

The issue was officially closed, with the final fault type identified as general elevated running speed vibration.
